This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. ** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Växjö, in Kronoberg County, is surrounded by a network of lakes and smaller rivers where surface water temperatures vary strongly with the seasons. In spring (April–May) lake temperatures typically rise from near freezing to about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts. In summer (June–August) popular bathing lakes usually reach roughly 17–24 °C (63–75 °F) in normal summers, occasionally higher during heat waves. Early autumn (September–October) brings cooling to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and by late autumn and winter many waters decline toward 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with rivers often a few degrees cooler than sheltered lakes because of flow and shading.
Swimming in Växjö’s lakes and rivers is commonly practiced and generally allowed; Sweden’s public access rights and municipal bathing sites make many shorelines available for recreation. Designated beaches and bathing areas are provided with basic facilities in summer, but lifeguards are not always present. Water quality is monitored, and swimming may be discouraged during algal blooms or temporary pollution advisories. In winter, ice and cold-water swimming occur at prepared sites, but such activity requires caution, appropriate equipment and local guidance because of thin ice and very low temperatures.
