*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sherbrooke, located in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, lies at the meeting point of the Saint-François and Magog Rivers and is surrounded by several small lakes. The area’s temperate continental climate creates distinct seasonal changes in water temperature. In early spring, following ice melt in April, the rivers and lakes remain cold, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, temperatures rise to about 52–61°F (11–16°C). During midsummer, from July through August, the surface water in nearby lakes such as Lake Magog and Lake Massawippi typically reaches 68–75°F (20–24°C), while the rivers stay somewhat cooler, around 63–68°F (17–20°C). By late September, the water begins to cool again below 57°F (14°C) as autumn sets in.
Swimming in and around Sherbrooke is allowed and very popular during the summer months. The warm, clear water of local lakes makes them ideal for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, with public beaches and recreational areas available for visitors. The Saint-François and Magog Rivers, though scenic, have stronger currents and are better suited for short dips or water sports rather than long swims. The best swimming season runs from late June through early September, when air and water temperatures are most comfortable for outdoor water activities.
