*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Laval, located just north of Montreal between the Rivière des Prairies and the Rivière des Mille Îles, has a humid continental climate that brings warm summers and cold winters, strongly influencing local water temperatures. In early spring, both rivers and nearby lakes remain cold as the ice melts, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, surface temperatures rise to about 52–61°F (11–16°C). During midsummer, from July through August, shallow sections of the rivers and smaller lakes around Laval typically reach 68–75°F (20–24°C), while deeper or faster-moving areas stay cooler at around 63–66°F (17–19°C). As autumn approaches, temperatures fall again below 57°F (14°C) by late September.
Swimming in Laval’s rivers and lakes is allowed in certain designated areas, though strong currents and water quality concerns restrict it in most sections. The Rivière des Mille Îles offers calmer stretches where swimming and kayaking are popular during midsummer, particularly near supervised parks and recreation zones. The best swimming conditions occur from late June through early September, when the air is hot and water temperatures reach their most comfortable range. While not a major swimming destination, Laval provides several safe, accessible spots for short swims and water-based recreation during the warmest months.
