*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Dominion Park Beach, located on the Saint John River in the west side of Saint John, New Brunswick, is a popular freshwater swimming destination. The river's water temperature experiences a comfortable seasonal increase, making swimming possible during the warmest periods. In the peak summer months, surface temperatures typically range from 18∘C to 23∘C (64∘F to 73∘F), with late July and August being the most comfortable time for a dip. In the winter, the water cools dramatically, dropping to the range of 0∘C to 5∘C (32F to 41∘F), with ice formation being common on the river.
Swimming is permitted and actively encouraged at Dominion Park Beach, which is recognized by the city as a suitable location for water recreation. Uniquely for a river beach, the City of Saint John typically provides lifeguard services during the summer months, confirming its status as a designated swimming area and enhancing safety. However, swimmers should still exercise caution regarding the powerful flow of the Saint John River, especially outside of the designated swimming area. Furthermore, the beach is periodically monitored for water quality, and high bacterial counts can lead to temporary No Swimming advisories.
