*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Dieppe, New Brunswick, is bordered by the Petitcodiac River, which is influenced by the massive tides of the Bay of Fundy. Due to the area's warm continental climate, the river's water temperature can fluctuate significantly. In the peak summer months, the river’s surface temperature has been recorded to warm considerably, sometimes reaching up to 27∘C (81∘F), though average summer temperatures are closer to 20∘C (68∘F). In the winter, the water cools dramatically, generally dropping to the range of 0∘C to 5∘C (32∘F to 41∘F), with parts of the river freezing.
Swimming in the Petitcodiac River near Dieppe is strongly discouraged and generally considered unsafe, despite the comfortable summer temperatures. The primary concerns are water quality and physical hazards. Studies have shown that bacterial levels, particularly E. coli, often exceed safe limits for direct contact recreation like swimming, especially during warmer months. Furthermore, the river's flow is affected by tidal action and the removal of the former causeway gates, which can create strong, unpredictable currents and turbulent water. For safe, supervised swimming, the city directs residents to its Aquatic and Sports Centre, which features a heated pool.
