*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.
Water temperature data for this location is gathered from various sources, including buoys and satellite sea and ocean surface maps provided by the NOAA agency. We also incorporate data from local authorities in each specific location worldwide to ensure more accurate temperature readings.

Monthly Water Temp Ranges
Annual Water Temperature Trend
Kashechewan is a remote Cree community on the banks of the Albany River near James Bay in northern Ontario, where the climate strongly influences the character of local waters. For much of the year the river and bay are cold: winter conditions bring ice cover and water temperatures close to 0 °C under the ice, while the spring thaw sees surface temperatures slowly rising from around 0 °C to roughly 3–5 °C as meltwater flows increase. In the height of summer, shallow shore areas and sheltered bays can warm the most, with surface readings typically in the range of about 8–15 °C on warmest days, though open or flowing water usually remains on the cooler side. By early fall the water cools again, commonly dropping back toward 5–0 °C as seasonal cooling and increased winds reestablish cold conditions. Local tides, currents and weather swings mean temperatures can vary significantly over short distances and from year to year.

Location, Beaches & Local Information
Swimming Conditions
Swimming and traditional beach-style holidays in Kashechewan are therefore limited by short, cool summers and minimal developed recreational infrastructure. When surface temperatures reach the upper summer range, brief swims are possible, but the water remains cold enough that casual bathing can be uncomfortable without thermal protection; many visitors who choose to enter the water use wetsuits or keep to short exposures. There are few lifeguarded or groomed beaches, so anyone considering swimming should exercise caution regarding currents, debris and water quality, be accompanied, and plan for rapid warming or cooling conditions. The area is better suited to short, nature-focused outings than prolonged seaside resort-style beach holidays.
