Vygozero or Vygozerskoe reservoir is the largest freshwater lake in the Karelian Republic after Onega and Ladoga lakes. On the map, Vygozero can be seen as a blue spot with a heavily indented coastline that forms numerous bays and capes. The area of the lake at the moment is 1159 sq. km, but before the creation of the reservoir, the territory occupied by it was almost two times less. Snow and rain food. Due to the fact that Vygozero is a shallow body of water, in autumn you can observe a rapid cooling of the water, and in the summer the lake water warms up especially quickly. Naturally, in the southern part of Vygozero, all processes are more intensive. The opening of the lake occurs in mid-May, but freezing takes place for a rather long time - almost the entire November. The state of Vygozer's thermals is largely influenced by the influence of weather conditions, which determine the course of the processes of heating and cooling of the water column. In summer, water quickly heats up to significant temperatures; in autumn, it usually cools sharply. The southern regions of the reservoir differ from the northern ones by an increased rate of thermal processes and higher summer temperatures. The distribution of temperatures in the water column is not stable: the steady-state thermal stratification is often disturbed under the influence of winds and is replaced by a state close to homothermy , which in summer leads to a sharp increase in temperatures in the bottom layer of water. A weakly pronounced temperature jump is rarely observed and exists for a short time.

Below is information about the current water temperature, the current trend of its change, information about the weather in selected locations in the Vygozero Lake.
